Sons of the Prophet

 

We are pleased to announce the New York premiere of Stephen Karam’s new play, Sons of the Prophet, will feature Tony Award® winner Joanna Gleason, directed by Peter DuBois.

Sons of the Prophet will begin performances on Friday, September 30, 2011 and open officially on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre / Laura Pels Theatre.

The full cast and creative team will be announced shortly.

Sons of the Prophet is a brutally funny new play about a Lebanese family in PA in crisis. But as they deal with crazy bosses, medical mysteries, and the end of the family line, they never lose their unbreakable sense of humor. 

Sons of the Prophet was commissioned by Roundabout Theatre Company, and will be produced in association with Huntington Theatre Company (Peter DuBois, Artistic Director; Michael Maso, Managing Director) where it recently had its world premiere. 

Stephen Karam returns to Roundabout and the Harold & Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre following his hugely acclaimed New York debut as the author of Speech & Debate at Roundabout Underground.  The inaugural production of Speech & Debate in Roundabout Underground went on to extend for over 10 weeks and has played in over 100 theaters in the United States and Canada.

A Look Into the 2011-2012 Season!

 

We are very proud to announce three shows included in our upcoming 2011-2012 season:

Bob Fosse's Dancin'

Directed by Graciela Daniele.

This is the first production of Dancin' since the original 1978 production. Bob Fosse’s original choreography will be recreated on the stage of Studio 54. Creative consultation will be provided by Nicole Fosse (Bob Fosse’s daughter). Cast members and the design team will be announced shortly.

Bob Fosse's Dancin' is a masterful tribute to the art of movement featuring legendary choreography by Bob Fosse and a score of jazz, classical and pop songs! Fosse was one of the greatest and most influential figures in dance and theatre history, with works including Cabaret, Chicago, Sweet Charity and Pippin, as well as the recipient of two Tony Awards, three Emmys and an Academy Award®.

Performances begin Fall 2011 at Studio 54.

In April 2011, it will have its world premiere at Huntington Theatre Company, Boston, directed by Peter DuBois (Artistic Director) by special arrangement with Roundabout. The fall Roundabout production will be produced in association with the Huntington. Stephen Karam is the author of Speech & Debate, the first production from the Roundabout Underground. Cast members and the design team will be announced shortly.

Performances begin Fall 2011 at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre.

Look Back in Anger

By John Osborne, Directed by Sam Gold

A stirring new production of John Osborne’s play often regarded as the pivotal work of the last century. Look Back in Anger is a shocking and vibrant drama about four people struggling to live together and love each other in 1950s England. Cast members and the design team will be announced shortly.

Director Sam Gold is a Roundabout Theatre Company Associate Artist and recently staged the acclaimed production of Tigers Be Still at Roundabout Underground.

Performances begin Winter 2012 at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre.
