It is my great pleasure to announce that we will be producing the musical On the Twentieth Century, with book and lyrics by Betty Comden & Adolph Green, score by Cy Coleman, and directed by Scott Ellis. Kristin Chenoweth and Peter Gallagher will star in this production, opening in the spring of 2015 at the American Airlines Theatre.

Both Peter and Kristin have seen great success in theatre, film, and television. It is wonderful to welcome back Kristin, who was last seen at Roundabout in The Apple Tree and has created iconic characters on stage in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (which she won a Tony for) and Wicked as well as many memorable roles on television shows like “Pushing Daisies” and “Glee.” Peter has had a remarkable stage career spanning more than 40 years, and he was last on Broadway in The Country Girl. Peter has also shown incredible range in both film and television, including American Beauty, While You Were Sleeping, and “The O.C.”

The design and production team also features long-time Roundabout family: Warren Carlyle (Choreography), David Rockwell (Sets), William Ivey Long (Costumes), and Donald Holder (Lights).

I am thrilled to bring this true American classic back to Broadway. And with Scott Ellis at the helm, I know the production will be remarkable. I encourage you to subscribe now and save up to 45% off on single ticket prices or sign up for our Email Club to purchase single tickets before the general public.

I am excited to announce further casting for our upcoming production of The Real ThingCynthia Nixon will be appearing as Charlotte, joining the previously announced Ewan McGregor and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Cynthia first joined the Roundabout family in 2001 with The Women. She went on to appear in Distracted at the Laura Pels Theatre, for which she was nominated for a Drama League Award. Today, of course, she is an invaluable member of the Roundabout Board of Directors.

In 1984, Cynthia appeared in the Broadway debut of The Real Thing as Henry’s daughter Debbie, while simultaneously appearing in Hurlyburly. Her nightly appearances in two theaters to act in two different plays (both directed by Mike Nichols) was a Broadway first.

It is thrilling to have Cynthia back on the Roundabout stage in a show that has already been an important part of her career.

2014-2015 Season News

It is my great pleasure to announce two new productions for the 2014-2015 season. We will produce Tom Stoppard’s Indian Ink at the Laura Pels Theatre, directed by Carey Perloff. We will also have a revival of Michael Frayn’s beloved comedy Noises Off, directed by Jeremy Herrin, as our second play at the American Airlines Theatre next season. These plays join the previously announced production of The Real Thing this fall.

I am thrilled to have two of Tom’s plays running concurrently on our stages, and it is particularly exciting to give New York audiences their first look at his beautiful play set in pre-and post-colonial India. Carey directed for Roundabout back in 1986 before moving to San Francisco, where she has been the Artistic Director of A.C.T. for 20 years. It will be great to have both Tom and Carey back at the Roundabout.

Jeremy Herrin will be making his Broadway (and Roundabout) debut with Noises Off. Jeremy has extensive credits in the West End and around London. I’m thrilled to welcome him to the Roundabout family, and I can’t wait to see what he does with this classic farce.

Tickets for these productions are currently only available as part of a subscription. I look forward to sharing even more news about the season ahead with you soon.
