She Loves Me

I am thrilled to announce an exciting musical production for the upcoming 50th Anniversary Season.  Joe Masteroff, Sheldon Harnick, and Jerry Bock’s heartwarming She Loves Me will open in the Spring of 2016 in a production directed by Scott Ellis and starring Laura Benanti and Zachary Levi (replaces Josh Radnor).

She Loves Me holds a very special place in the history of Roundabout. The show’s 1993 production (also directed by Scott Ellis) was the first Broadway musical in Roundabout’s history and launched our Musical Theatre Program, which has become an integral part of Roundabout’s mission and has originated many of our most celebrated productions. She Loves Me also marked the beginning of Roundabout’s relationship with Scott Ellis, our Associate Artistic Director and current director of On the Twentieth Century. Scott’s contributions to Roundabout have been invaluable; he has directed nearly twenty productions on our stages (many of them Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle nominees) and has been a great friend and collaborator for over two decades. He is a prolific Broadway director, with three shows on Broadway stages this season (You Can’t Take it With You, The Elephant Man, and the upcoming On the Twentieth Century) and numerous critically-acclaimed credits in his past (including The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Harvey, Company, and Twelve Angry Men). Scott is also an accomplished television director (“30 Rock,” “Modern Family,” “Nurse Jackie,” “The Good Wife”) and producer (“Weeds”).

BenantiLaura_photoI am honored to welcome back Roundabout alum Laura Benanti. Laura appeared in Roundabout’s production of Nine and has a long list of Broadway credits, including Gypsy (for which she won a Tony Award), Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (Tony nomination), Into the Woods (Tony nomination), Swing! (Tony nomination), and In the Next Room (or the Vibrator Play). On screen, Laura has appeared in “Law & Order: SVU,” “Royal Pains,” and “The Sound of Music Live!,” among others, and is currently appearing on the third season of ABC’s “Nashville.”

I’m thrilled to welcome Zachary to the Roundabout stage opposite the incredible Laura Benanti. He made a notable Broadway debut in 2013’s First Date and has an accomplished film and television career, including the title role on Chuck and the upcoming Heroes Reborn.

I am so proud to add this significant and memorable show to our historic 50th Anniversary Season, and I couldn’t be more pleased that such an exceptional group of artists will be bringing the production to life.

I encourage you to subscribe now and save more than 40% off of tickets to She Loves Me or sign up for our Email Club to purchase single tickets before the general public.
