I am excited to announce that Everyday Rapture will replace Lips Together, Teeth Apart as the final show at the American Airlines Theatre this season. Everyday Rapture is written by Sherie Rene Scott and Dick Scanlan, and directed by Michael Mayer. The show was originally produced at Second Stage last spring, and extended two weeks due to the overwhelmingly positive reaction from critics and audiences alike.

I have admired Sherie for a long time now, and it is exciting to have her involved as both writer and performer on this show. She was most recently on Broadway in The Little Mermaid and was nominated for a Tony for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Her performance in Everyday Rapture is strong and joyful, and I am ecstatic to have such a talented artist on our stage.

I am also excited to welcome back Michael Mayer, a long time member of the Roundabout family. He has directed a number of wonderful shows for Roundabout, including Side Man and A View from the Bridge, both of which earned Tony Awards (for Best Play and Best Revival, respectively). In addition, Michael won a Tony for his direction of Spring Awakening. I am grateful he will be joining us, even as another musical he is directing, American Idiot, will be opening on Broadway just a little over a week before Everyday Rapture.

Along with Sherie and Michael, I am pleased to have Dick Scanlan on the team as co-author. Dick was nominated for a Tony for his libretto for Thoroughly Modern Millie, and has written articles for the likes of Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, and The New York Times, among others.

We are fortunate to have these artists, along with the original designers and production team of Everyday Rapture, which will feature choreography by Michele Lynch, orchestrations & arrangements by Tom Kitt, music supervision by Michael Rafter, music direction by Marco Paguia, sets by Christine Jones, costumes by Tom Broecker, lighting design by Kevin Adams, and sound design by Brian Ronan. Original cast members Eamon Foley, Lindsay Mendez and Betsy Wolfe will also be back to reprise their roles.

This has been a unique experience for me, and I am grateful to have such seasoned professionals on board. This team, alongside our Roundabout staff, will be condensing the work that we usually do with months, even years, of planning into a number of weeks. I want to thank everyone for their incredible work to make this production possible, and I am truly thrilled to offer such a wonderful show as the final production of our 2009-2010 season.
